Succeeded with image loading

Updates for the past four days:

I explored base64 encoding of strings using Javascript and Java. I wrote code for both using Java on the back end and Javascript for the front end.
My ultimate aim was to save a snap shot of a given analysis query as a property in the database and retrieve the snapshots as and when desired to get an idea of what a query looks like.
But ultimately part of my package uses Actionscript 3.0 and i ended up doing the string encoding in that.
And i store the Base64 string in the database. I dont know if this is the best practice of storing images bur will need to do more research for that.

Below is a snapshot of what i achieved. It is a rough prototype and not the final UI.

Accessing Coursera learning material offline

So Coursera is awesome right? But one thing that really bothered me was that I was not able to access material offline. My commute is a whopping 3 hours so yeah, I could make use of that time to read up on stuff!! (Yes i do look out the window.....but still!) d3 Collapsible tree vertical

I have just finished playing around with M. Bostoc's collapsible tree. Here is a link to his original version. This tree has a right to left orientation, and I wanted a top to bottom. He does provide an option for tree orientations here .  Sources showing how to vertically orient it online, showcase a very simple non interactive tree.  SO i just changed his original code a bit, just small x, y tweaks (mainly the diagonal and the node transitions). Quiet simple actually. And this is what it looks like.  Also including the code and the hierarchical JSON object used.  Hope this helps. :)

Fixing $env.TOMCAT_HOME directory creation in eclipse

I ran into this issue when I cloned a Git repository, was running the ant build and was trying to deploy the build to Tomcat. And every time I did that I got a status of the WAR file being deployed to ${env.TOMCAT_HOME}/webapps. This created a new directory of the same name in the project....and I could not deploy the project....well because it WAS NOT deployed to Tomcat. ${env.TOMCAT_HOME} was being treated like a 'string' in the ant build...not a variable like it should be. And I had something looking like this. I tried looking into setting environment variables on my machine...tried another round hopelessly with root privileges ......to no avail. To make my temper worse I had done this once before successfully on a friend's computer....had very smartly bookmarked the blogpost that mentioned how to do it and now....that entire blog had been removed.
